CORAL COAST 'PAMMY Q'
Pammy Q was grown from a seed of Thai Oaxaca Rose, and is a fat, chunky sort of grower, being named after one of our early FSA members. Large dark blooms, and getting larger each year, to date. A strong orange centre seems to be getting more dominant as this tree ages. There isn't much perfume (in common with many dark reds) but it certainly has a visual 'WOW' factor! Branches start from $30 - quite fat and chunky! Potential buyers need to be aware that this new cultivar does not cope well with the heat, and will start to wilt once it goes over 40C ~ so do I, actually....! ;o(

CORAL COAST BLUSHING BRIDE
This tree was grown from a B052 seed from Dr Preecha in Thailand, and frankly looks absolutely nothing like the mother-tree. However, I love it to bits, it was a manic 12-brancher from the start, with a lovely characteristic wine-glass shape that you can only get when growing from seed (or years of tedious pruning!) The blush intensifies in heat, travelling down from petal edge towards centre and has an excellent grainy/veiny texture. I could show a dozen images of this one, and depending upon the heat, they would all look different. Perfume is good - Johnson's Baby Powder would be close. This image was taken in spring, and branches start from $20.

MARIE'S BLACK-RED
The ever-popular black red which actually does go black in extremes of heat. You can tell this is my own image and not cropped or doctored by the background!! Perfume is mild and musky for want of a better description. No matter how many branches of this one I take to root for locals each year, there are never enough. Prices start from $40 unrooted, or $60 for a rooted young tree, depending on size.

CORAL COAST THAI GOLD STAR
How could you not love this rare beauty? This is a brand new cultivar, which came from Dr Preecha's A-series seeds, a significant number of which have this lovely rolled petal 'star' shape, and deep gold tones. A couple of branches can now be taken, though at $40 you might need to be quick. This new cultivar is a particularly tall grower - seems to be giving lots of long but rather thin new branches as I type this (June 2011). . SORRY - NO MORE BRANCHES CAN BE TAKEN FROM THIS TREE FOR NOW.

CORAL COAST 'HELLO YELLOW'
Hello Yellow got its name because the day the first blooms began to open, I was truly amazed to find it yellow on the inside, despite having quite dark solid red backs to its petals! I was sure it was going to be red, and said 'Hello, Yellow!' as the buds unfurled. It was grown from an A004 seed from Dr Preecha in Thailand, and is a sister-tree to 'Amazing May' which has also gone for World Registration. Branches start from $30. This is another chameleon, like Fruit Salad above, and depending upon the time of the year, will look more yellow, or more orange and red. Over the last few years, since this one began to flower, it's probably more orange than yellow, or at any rate, a rather fiery sort of golden yellow.

CORAL COAST HANKY PANKY
This glorious new cultivar gained the nickname some years back, from a US member when one of my friends, called Hank the Horse used to collect and donate thousands of seeds of his splashing pink trees to their seedbank. I grew a few on, not expecting much, but was most surprised to find this little beauty, starting to bloom at 2 years old. The tree is now five or six years old, and colours have become richer, I think. Many of the blooms are happy to stay slightly furled, giving a rosebud look to themselves. Again, found nowhere else in the world but here. Some cuttings can now be taken, at only $30 for now. A great, hardy, Aussie born and bred cultivar.

NAMELESS NINA FOR NOW
Here's a really lovely one currently in bloom that lost its label way back but is still really nice. It was possibly a Thai Lanna seedling? Still looking for a name, it also has a sweet, pretty sort of a perfume. Vigorous grower, and still quite young. Edges become much thicker and darker in colour in the heat, while retaining their 'butterly wing' veining. Branches from $35.

CORAL COAST MONTEGO SUNBURST
Here's a new one to finish off this page. It's a tall, fast-growing tree from a seed from the cultivar 'Montego Bay' which was sent to me from Florida. (Waves to Luc and Carol!) The perfume is not strong, but it's an eye-catching bloom, with a huge orange throat. Branches start from $25.
