IF YOU SEE US ON THE ROAD SAY HELLO!

As time allows, through the winter months, don't be surprised if you see us on the road, with our wolfhounds.

Sometimes we take a few boxes of pre-ordered frangipanis to friends we know we will see at dog shows. We also support our local communities up and down the Coral Coast.

If you haven't been north of Geraldton before, for goodness' sake WHY? Some of the true wonders of the nature can be found up here in the north west of Western Australia, you know. Get on the 'net and plan your winter holiday break right now....

  TRAVELLING FRANGIPANIS

One of the places we will be visiting this winter, is the small township of Exmouth to the north of Carnarvon. In case you didn't know, Exmouth is a very remote town on the North West Cape of Western Australia and has a population of 2,400 permanent residents. During World War II the Learmonth Airport was used as a defence base by the Royal Australian Airforce. The Potshot Base which was positioned close to the Learmonth Airport was bombed by the Japanese during the War. The town of Exmouth was built primarily as a support town for the United States Naval Base, however due to the beauty that abounds the area Exmouth has become an extremely popular tourist destination for people from all walks of life and from all over the world. The fact that Exmouth boasts a beautiful climate, excellent fishing, both marine and terrestrial national park which encompass one of the few fringing coral reefs on the west coast of a continent in the world with some of the most magnificent diving and snorkeling conditions, it's a paradise for both land based tourists as well as diving enthusiasts.

EXMOUTH'S FIRST-EVER MONTHLY MARKETS will be held on the second Sunday of every month from 8am to 2pm on the grassed area behind Exmouth Visitor Centre. It is hoped that the markets will bring the community together, also giving an added vibrancy to the town during the tourist season. Up to 40 different stalls will be offering everything from crafts to cheap fruit and vegetables, straight from the plantations. We will be there selling frangipanis and adeniums, offering advice and help to one and all, and would love to see you there. Contact Mulan Matthews-Haddrell on 9949 4855 for more details.

  CORAL BAY

Coral Bay is a small settlement that lies protected from the Indian ocean by the Ningaloo reef. It is Australia's only fringing reef. In contrast to other locations the coral starts right at the water's edge. The fish and the coral are very accessible to all including small children.

Fish and coral can be experienced either snorkelling or on one of the Coral viewing boats. It is about 50 km to the North of the tropic of Capricorn, some 120 km south of Exmouth in Western Australia. The weather is mild, without the humidity that is often associated with tropical climates. It comprises a resort hotel, two caravan parks and about 20 houses. It is a holiday destination for Western Australians together with some overseas backpackers. Some houses are available for short term holiday rentals. and are booked well ahead for the school holidays.

  SOLO'S STORY

If you think there’s something funny about the picture you’d be right. Kangaroos don’t usually swim. They can, and they’re actually quite good at it, using their powerful back legs in a dog paddle style. It’s an interesting quirk of a kangaroo’s biology that it can only use its legs independently when swimming. But they generally only take to the water when they’ve been chased into it. Visit Coral Bay and learn Solo's amazing story.
